Last updated 30 October 2026
Skate On is run by Nolan S., an individual based in South Africa. Nolan decides how your information is used and is responsible for looking after it. For anything about your information, including seeing, correcting or deleting it, email kgotsonolan@gmail.com.
This policy explains how we handle personal information under South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). If you live somewhere else, see "Riders outside South Africa" below.

We only use your information to:
We use your information because you asked us to (by creating an account or signing up for the newsletter), because we need it to run the service you signed up for, or because it's needed to keep the community safe. We don't sell your information and we don't show ads.
We use a few trusted services to run the site. They only use your information to provide their service to us.
We may also share information when the law requires it, or to protect riders or the public from harm.
Some of these services store information on servers outside South Africa, for example in the United States or Europe. We only use services that are bound by privacy laws or agreements that protect your information at a level similar to POPIA.
You can:
Email kgotsonolan@gmail.com for any of these. We'll reply within 30 days.
Skate On is for riders 13 and up. If you're 13 to 17, you need your parent's or guardian's OK to use Skate On, and you tell us that when you set up your account. Your parent or guardian can contact us at any time to see, correct or delete your information.
We don't knowingly allow anyone under 13. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 13, or to someone under 18 without a parent's or guardian's OK, we'll close it and delete their information. If you think this has happened, email kgotsonolan@gmail.com.
Anyone can use Skate On. Wherever you live, you have the rights listed above. If the law where you live gives you more protection (for example the GDPR in the EU or UK), you keep those rights too, and you can also complain to your local data protection authority. If your country sets a higher age for using services like this without a parent's OK, that age applies to you.
We use secure connections, sign-in codes instead of passwords, and limits on who can see what. No system is perfect, so we can't promise it will never happen, but if your information is ever exposed in a way that could harm you, we'll tell you and the Information Regulator as soon as we reasonably can.
If we make important changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top, and let you know by email or on the site before they take effect.
